Ten Years Old!

I can't believe it's been ten years since these two cuties were born. It's been exhausting but fun seeing how they have grown and changed over the years. The girls are smart and very different. Both have dyslexia but it presents in very different ways. They have challenges because of dyslexia but they also love how it makes they different. The work hard to not let it get in their way. They see the world in a completely different way and it is wonderful. I'm very proud of who these girls have become and the strength and courage they have.

Healthy

Back in August 2017, Wes and I started trying a healthy lifestyle. Through Wes' health insurance we were able to start a weight loss program. It's a really good program. The problem was, you had to have will power and motivation to do it. We sort of started in August. We did the bare minimum and didn't work very hard to lose.

Then in January, we committed to each other that we would hold each other accountable. To be an example for our kids, we decided that we really needed to be healthy. We started eating less and exercising more. Both of us noticed that our energy level has improved and we feel better. Wes has even stopped snoring. I've lost 20 pounds so far and Wes has lost 40.

We still have a ways to go until we are finished. But, I'm hopeful we have the skills and habits to stay healthy.

Blue Bonnets!

We took our annual blue bonnet pictures!

What We Have Been Up To!

Wow! It's been too long since I have posted. I guess I've gotten a little lazy. Thing have been busy in our house. The girls have enjoyed playing their instruments. Lizzie loves her fiddle; in fact, calling it her "most precious possession". Grace is learning more and more about the guitar. When she practices, she likes to make up her own songs. Twice now, the girls have performed at church. In addition to their stringed instruments, they have been involved with bell choir at church and choir. Lots of music in the house! We are very busy with church. The girls acolyte once a month.
In February, Wes and the girls had a day off for President's Day. We decided to spend the night in Fort Worth. We went to the Stockyards and Billy Bob's. The girls loved dancing!

In March, we spent a couple of days in OKC for Spring Break. The rest of the week we stayed home. We went skating with friends one of the days.
In April, we took the girls to Oklahoma State University for the Vet's Schools open house. They had a blast and both want to be a vet.

Whew! That's gotten us up to April!

Merry Christmas from the Potters

Merry Christmas!

This Advent season, I am focusing on light. There has been much darkness this past year in the world but Jesus brings light into this world. If we continue to search for light in the darkness, we will find the four virtues of Jesus which are hope, love, joy and peace. I hope you will be able to see the light in the darkness and find hope, love, joy and peace this season and all year through.

John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Big Bend of Texas!

For the first part of Thanksgiving break, we went down to the Big Bend area of Texas and camped. The weather was perfect. This area is near and dear to my heart, it's where I was born and raised for the first five years of my life. I love this area and love going back! We can't wait to go back again. You can't see all there is to see in one trip!

When we rolled into Alpine, there was an Art Fest going on and a parade! We walked around to see all the shops in downtown. We stopped for lunch and groceries and then headed to the camp site.

The campsite was nice and the views were awesome. Sunrise and sunset are the most beautiful time of day. Big Bend has the darkest skies and the most stars and shooting stars you have ever seen in your life. One night, one of the other campers had their telescope out and shared with us. We saw other galaxies and close ups of the stars. It reminded me of being a kid and looking through one of my parents' friend's telescope. It was a trip full of great memories and experiences that the girls won't forget.

Disneyland!

For Fall Break, we took the girls to Disneyland! We had a blast and the girls loved it! Lizzie couldn't wait to meet Elsa. That is her favorite princess. She was not disappointed! The girls loved the rides and roller coasters!

On the last day we were there, we spent the morning at the beach. The girls played in the water for a few minutes and then we had lunch. After that, it was off to the airport and back home!
