Dr. Seuss Day

Tuesday was Dr. Seuss Day at the girls school. It was supposed to be Monday but it turned into a snow day. The girls were really bummed when I told them there was no school. Sure enough, we got an email saying Dr. Seuss Day was back on for Tuesday! Gracie was The Cat in the Hat and Lizzie was Sally from The Cat in the Hat. They both loved their costumes.

So excited for the day!
It was a fun day for them. They said they can't wait for next year. Gracie said, we had to keep all the stuff so she could be The Cat in the Hat next year. Lizzie loved her dress and because it was cold, I let her wear tights to school. I usually don't let them wear tights because they come home shredded.

A couple of weekends ago, my parents came for a visit. We had a great weekend of sorting through the girls toys and a trip to the zoo. Nana was able to join us for a fun day!

A Lot Can Happen in a Week.....

Wow, these past eight days have been crazy! We have had a lot of things going on with the girls. It feels like it's been one thing after another.

As Wes was flying back from Trinidad last Thursday, Gracie called me from the other room and said that her tooth was really wiggly. About five minutes after she told me, Wes text me that he had landed. I text back that he better hurry or Gracie would loose the tooth without him. Fortunately, the tooth waited for him to come home and yank it out. Somehow, the girls knew all about the tooth fairy and what the procedure was. Lizzie was just as excited as Gracie. The next morning, the tooth fairy left a note for both girls and money for Gracie. It was really fun!

Missing a tooth

On Saturday, the girls had a hockey practice and we went to a pancake breakfast. After that, we decided to pick up some things from the store. While we were there, Gracie tripped and busted her chin open on the tile floor. That led to the rest of the afternoon being spent in the ER to get stitches. She was a brave girl. She told us later, that she knew we shouldn't have gone in that store.

Seven stitches
Monday was the 101th day of school and all the kindergarteners dressed up like dalmatians. The girls were so excited and made shirts with Nana. Gracie got to sport a band aid on her chin to protect the stitches. They had a parade around the school and watched 101 Dalmatians after lunch. It was a really fun day for them.
Friday was Valentine's Day and Get Gracie's Stitches Out Day. Both events were exciting. Gracie was so happy she was getting her stitches out. For Valentine's Day, the girls had to have a box for their valentines and valentine's for all their friends. It was a lot of work, but we got it done. After school, we got the stitches removed and Gracie was brave for the doctor.

Whew, what a busy week!

Sister Love

Gracie came home from school so excited today because she is one marble away from earning a turn at the treasure box. She told me that she was going to get a red bear out of the box  and give it to Lizzie. When Lizzie has her turn at the box, she picks things out for Gracie. These two girls are always happy for each other and their individual successes.

I am constantly amazed by the bond and love they have.

Fun on a Warm Winter Day

A couple of weekends ago, we went to Klyde Warren Park for a fun day. We wandered around the park playing. The girls loved the park and played on everything. After playing, we ordered from the food trucks and had a picnic. The girls thought they was awesome.

After the park, we decided to ride the M-Line Trolley. It was so much fun. We road it up and down the line and turned at the turntable. The turntable turns the trolley around with the passengers in it. It was interesting to witness. The trolley is well used and filled up quickly.

It was a fun family day for us.  It is always fun to experience something new as a family.

Christmas 2013

Christmas came quick this year! We started the winter break off with strep. Gracie came down with it on Saturday and postponed our leaving to Oklahoma until Monday. Wes came down with a virus that turned into a sinus infection. He was sick the entire time we were gone. Grace started feeling better by Christmas Day. We had three Christmas celebrations; one on Christmas Eve, one on Christmas Day and then the weekend after Christmas with my dad's family. We had fun at all of them!

We had a great time while we were there! We celebrated with tons of family!
