Visit with Alabama Family

This past weekend, we made the long trek to Alabama to visit Wes' side of the family. It's takes about 12 hours with limited stops but with two kids, it takes longer. We had a short but good visit. We packed a lot of fun in a very short time!

We left our house early (6:00 am) on Friday and arrived around 9:00 pm. When we got there, we reviewed what everyone was going to wear for picture day on Saturday. Saturday morning, we got up, ate breakfast and picked up some last minute stuff for the pictures. That afternoon, we met a photographer with 17 members of Wes' extended family. Because we were in Alabama, we couldn't use our favorite photographer, LiaLezon and had to go with someone else. We spent about an hour taking pictures and playing in the park. After the pictures, some of us went to get ice cream. Saturday late afternoon into the evening, we played with the dogs, ate yummy food, visited with family and watched football.

Sunday, we got up and had breakfast out. In the afternoon, we went to a pumpkin patch in Tennessee with Nana and Wes' cousin Brande. The kids all had a blast. We had four kids total with us; Lizzie, Gracie, Huck and Kinsleah. By the time we were done, I had hay in my hair and Lizzie was filthly. We fed animals, watched pigs race, road a "train", walked a corn maze, bounced and went down slides.

All weekend, we talked about the cotton field across the street from Wes' grandparents house. On Sunday, we took the girls picture in it. They were so excited!

On Monday, we ate breakfast with Nana and Wes' grandparents. After breakfast, it was time to pack up and head out. We had a really good time. The girls loved playing with all the cousins and seeing their great-grandparents.

Spring Break

This week was the girls Spring Break. We had a really fun week and played with lots of friends. I forgot my camera so my phone pictures will have to do. This was our very first spring break from school. I was good until about Thursday morning, then the girls stopped listening and started acting naughty.

Here's how our week went:

Sunday night: The girls spent the night at Nana's. They got to decorate purses, go to Walmart, eat pancakes on a stick and watch movies.

Monday: After I picked the girls up from Nana's, we went to church for the girls to play and for me to have a meeting. The rest of the day we spent at home and played.

Tuesday: We met up with our friends Anna, Isaac and EJ to play at a fun playground and have a picnic. It was a blast. After nap, Daddy took the girls to fly their new kite and have a picnic. Lizzie and Gracie had a blast. They were so excited to fly it. By the time the kite was in the air, both girls had lost interest.

Wednesday: We met Reese and Riley at McDonald's for lunch. The girls loved playing and I always enjoy talking with Amy. That night, we made a trip to Walmart to pick up stuff for a goody bag for Papa's birthday. Papa's birthday has been a topic of discussion for a couple of weeks now. They can't wait to celebrate with him.
I love the size difference between daddy and the girls. So cute
Thursday: Back to McDonald's again to play with Avery, Collin and Noel, our friends from church. After dinner, the girls helped Daddy clean out the car. It amazes me what they think is fun, but they had a blast. Daddy looked a little frazzled though.

Friday: We met Karla and baby Bria at Central Market for lunch and to play. The girls were really interested in Bria and were good about not touching. They had a blast playing. Each girl wanted to taste Karla's sweet potato fries, neither one liked them. So funny to watch them eat something and not like it.

It was a fun week and we slept in every day. The weather was really nice and warmed up every day. The girls worn shorts or skirts with no jackets.

Snowflake Festival 2012

Every year, my twin group has a play date in the winter at Paradise Pond called the Snowflake Festival. Today, we had blast playing with all our friends. In the past, I have been exhausted afterwards because I was chasing the girls around. This year was different, the girls are big enough that they can do everything by themselves. I got to have several conversations with the other moms!

The girls played so hard (did I mention that we had a birthday party to go to first) that they took a nap without issues. It was a full morning but fun.
