Big Bend of Texas!

For the first part of Thanksgiving break, we went down to the Big Bend area of Texas and camped. The weather was perfect. This area is near and dear to my heart, it's where I was born and raised for the first five years of my life. I love this area and love going back! We can't wait to go back again. You can't see all there is to see in one trip!

When we rolled into Alpine, there was an Art Fest going on and a parade! We walked around to see all the shops in downtown. We stopped for lunch and groceries and then headed to the camp site.

The campsite was nice and the views were awesome. Sunrise and sunset are the most beautiful time of day. Big Bend has the darkest skies and the most stars and shooting stars you have ever seen in your life. One night, one of the other campers had their telescope out and shared with us. We saw other galaxies and close ups of the stars. It reminded me of being a kid and looking through one of my parents' friend's telescope. It was a trip full of great memories and experiences that the girls won't forget.

Disneyland!

For Fall Break, we took the girls to Disneyland! We had a blast and the girls loved it! Lizzie couldn't wait to meet Elsa. That is her favorite princess. She was not disappointed! The girls loved the rides and roller coasters!

On the last day we were there, we spent the morning at the beach. The girls played in the water for a few minutes and then we had lunch. After that, it was off to the airport and back home!

First Day of Fourth Grade!

Summer came to a close and school started again! The girls were very excited to start school and meet their teachers.

Helping Out!

For the girls' birthday, they asked their friends for donations instead of presents. They wanted to help out some of the local animal shelters. Their friends brought dog toys and we finally dropped off all the stuff. While we were there, we played with a couple of dogs and a kitty. The shelter was so grateful and gave the girls a t-shirt.

All the animals we played with were adopted within the week! We were so happy that these sweet animals all found a home!

Mom and Dad's 70th Anniversary!

To celebrate my parents anniversary in early August, we spent a weekend in Glen Rose, TX. We had a ton of fun! We saw dinosaur tracks, animals, and more!

We stayed in a cute cabin. One afternoon, we told the kids to go out and adventure! Well, they did. When we called for them to come back, they couldn't hear us. We tried not to panic and went out looking for them. Finally, we found them.

It was a great weekend with lots of fun!

Adventures of Molly and Cooper: Molly Goes to Nana's

Molly and Cooper are our dogs. We love them dearly and they love us. They are cute together and I thought I might write down some of their adventures.

Molly and Cooper are two dogs that are best friends. They live with the Potters. Molly came to the Potter family many years ago. Molly was rescued when Melissa and Wes were a young couple. She is a German shepherd mix. But she didn't look like your average German Shepherd. She had a beautiful red coat and a curly tail. She is an older dog and wiser.

Cooper is new to the family. He is young and energetic. Cooper is a lab through and through. He has a beautiful yellow coat with white freckles on his face. He and Molly play all day in the backyard. When Cooper first came to the Potter family, he hated to go outside by himself without a human. But the longer he stayed with the Potters, the more he realize he love the outdoors.

Molly and Cooper have another doggy friend, Willa. Willa is Nana's dog. Nana is Wes's mother. Willa comes to play every afternoon when Nana goes to work.

One evening, a strong storm came through and knocked down the fence around the dogs' yard. Wes and Melissa went out to fix the fence. It was a temporary fix while they decided how to get it replaced. Because it wasn't put up really well, there were holes. One hole was big enough for Molly to get through.

One day, Molly decided she wanted to get out of the fence. She climbed through the hole and got out. At the same time, Melissa and the girls were getting ready to go to school. They walked out of the garage to find Molly escaping. Molly knew that they knew she was out. She wanted to go see Nana. So, she walked toward Nana's fence and waited for Melissa to let her in. She spend the rest of the day at Nana's.
